Invisalign vs. Braces: Cost, Results, & Treatment Time

If you’re interested in straightening your teeth in Sarasota, Dr. Miller is here to help. At Sarasota Bay Dental, we offer orthodontic treatment for patients of all ages. There are some key differences between Invisalign and traditional braces, but both offer effective orthodontic treatment for various needs.

Invisalign vs. Braces – How Much Will Treatment Cost?

While the cost of Invisalign and braces are usually quite similar, it is not really possible to give an accurate assessment of the cost of your orthodontic treatment without a consultation from Sarasota Bay Dental. After an oral exam, Dr. Miller will be able to provide you with an accurate quote based on your oral health and the extent of your orthodontic issues. If you would like a cost estimate, come in for an appointment.

Invisalign vs. Braces – What Are the Results Like?

No matter which treatment you choose, you will get a straighter smile and a healthier bite. If you’re a good candidate for either Invisalign or braces, you can expect to get nearly identical results.

However, if you have more complex orthodontic issues, you likely will not be approved for Invisalign, because braces will likely provide you with better results than Invisalign.

This is because Invisalign is not quite as powerful and versatile as traditional metal braces. While it can be used to correct most minor to moderate orthodontic problems like crowded, crooked, and gapped teeth, it’s not a great option for patients who have serious orthodontic issues.

Traditional braces are more effective for correcting malpositioned bites, extremely crooked and rotated teeth, and other such orthodontic problems.

Invisalign vs. Braces – How Long Does Treatment Take?

Invisalign is usually quite a bit faster for braces. Most patients can be treated with about 20-24 sets of aligners, and each set is worn for about 2 weeks. This puts the average treatment time at about a year.

In contrast, braces usually require 12-18 months of treatment to straighten your teeth. If you have serious orthodontic issues, your treatment could take as long as 2-3 years, in some cases. If Dr. Miller determines that you are a good candidate for Invisalign, it will usually offer you faster results than braces.
